CCPN SPAF Tool 3.3.6

The CCPN SPAF Tool App is a clinical resource developed to aid Canadian healthcare professionals in the management of stroke prevention for patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation. Based on the established CCPN SPAF pocket card, this digital tool integrates stroke risk assessment using CHADS and CHADSVASc scoring systems, as well as bleeding risk evaluation via the HAS-BLED criteria. It offers evidence-based recommendations aligned with the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS) guidelines for atrial fibrillation management.

Additionally, the app provides practical information on pharmacologic options, dosage guidance, and calculations for creatinine clearance, enhancing therapeutic decision-making. Its management tools facilitate comparison of treatment strategies and enable personalized therapy tailored to individual patient profiles. Designed as a supplementary reference, it aims to support clinicians’ existing clinical knowledge and optimize patient care.

The development of this app was supported in kind by the Centre for Innovation in Complex Care (CICC) and received unrestricted grants from the Pfizer-Bristol Myers Squibb Alliance and Servier Canada. The original CCPN SPAF pocket card was similarly funded through an unrestricted grant from Boehringer Ingelheim Canada.
